Elected in March the new committee has been busy working behind the scenes this summer to get things ready for the new academic year. We thought it was about time we introduced you to the team - if you ever need a hand at an event look out for one of their friendly faces!
President - Katherine Martin (she/her)
Degree: Medicine (3rd Year)
Fav Stitch: Sewing or Crochet
Fun Fact: I was once hit by a car on my way to a Stitch Soc event, still attended, and then apologised for my lateness. #committed
Kat's main job is to make sure everything is running smoothly. She coordinates the committee and has played a big role in the website setup. She's also trying her best to fill in as social media manager - please like the Instagram and Facebook posts!!
Vice President - Samantha Pirie (she/her)
Degree: Environmental Geoscience (4th Year)
Fav Stitch: Crochet
Fun Fact: Last year I got a parking ticket for parking at 5:58 pm to head into a Stitch Soc event - free parking started at 6 pm!
Sam's there to support everyone on the committee with their roles, picking up jobs and helping with the planning of events. She is also leading the long-term project for the year (more info coming soon...).
Treasurer - Marissa Galbraith (she/her)
Degree: Microbiology (4th Year)
Fav Stitch: Sewing and Upcycling
Fun Fact: I can lick my elbow!
Marissa is in charge of everything money-wise. She works hard to make sure we're getting the best price for materials, manages membership payments, and also often teaches at events!
Secretary - To be Filled
This role is currently unfilled. We will be holding an EGM around the end of October/November to elect a new Secretary so keep an eye out if you're interested!
Events Co-ordinators
Our team of events coordinators are busy working away on the semester timetable. They're brainstorming, Pinterest boarding, and creating a great programme of events for you all to enjoy! They also play a big role in teaching and running our weekly events.
Jess McAleese (she/her)
Degree: Statistics (4th Year)

Fun Fact: I walked the Camino de Santiago this year which is 1,459 miles long!
Kate Miller (she/her)

Fun Fact: My choice of summer job is doing bat surveys!
Niamh Wallace (she/her)
Degree: Digital Media Info Studies (2nd Year)

Fun Fact: I have half of all the DMC embroidery thread colours!
