November Newsletter

Hello everyone!

We hope you’ve had a good November so far and university assignments aren’t weighing too heavily! In the last few weeks, we’ve had some amazing events from Crosstitch 101 to this week’s Crochet Under the Sea – I mean look how cute these fishy friends our member’s made on Thursday are!

We’ve also got a new place for our meetings we’re in Room 559B in the St Andrew’s Building for the near future.

As we move into the Semester 1 exam season, if you’re anything like us you’ll be looking to your crafting as a coping mechanism for the stress! So we thought we’d share some patterns for some quick projects you can do over the coming weeks.

Crochet

Since it’s me – Kat – writing this crochet obviously is going to come first.

Following on from the amigurumi-style crochet we did this week, I loved the look of this light garland to get you in the festive spirit.

Next up – if you’re feeling cold in the next few months with the Glaswegian winter you may want to try out this lovely beanie pattern from Hay Hay Crochet!

Crosstitch

Since we had our Crosstitch 101 event this month with our guru Niamh we thought we’d share some more patterns for you to try if you enjoyed the session!!

First up we’ve got this festive ornament pattern, you could even add a ribbon on to the top of these and add them to a tree or onto your keys!

And then if you’re looking for something you can leave up into January and February (and if you’re anything like me maybe March too!!) Then how about this simple snowflake design?

Knitting

Trying to roast marshmallows but you can’t because your hands feel like icicles? If you’re a knitter try this pattern to keep your mitts cosy this December.

Finding you have way too much to carry to the library at 8:30 am now and it’s so dark you’re wondering if you should go at all? Then get your needles out and make this cute little bag to carry all your essentials: a water bottle, your laptop, and your current WIP – you’ll be sorted!

Sewing

And last but not least we have a wee sewing pattern for you. If you're wanting to be a bit more sustainable with your gifting, try these gift tags - switch out the fabric to suit the occasion and you've got a little something extra to add to your presents!!

We are wishing all our members the best of luck during the exam period, and we'll be running sessions until the last week of term so if you want to come crochet and chill, we'll be here.

Our final session of the year will be an alumni event on the 15th December and we'll be heading to Old School House for some drinks (and non-alcoholic drinks).

Your 2022/23 Stitch Committee xx
